GM Plants used for 90-days Feeding Studies

All tested crops (see below) have been grown during the 2012 season in a small area in the Empordà (Catalonia, Spain) in the same conditions and according to the standard cultural practices in the region.

No insecticides were applied in any case. Crops were dried and sampled according to EN ISO 24333 for preparation of the diets (for more information see study plans).

The raw material and the prepared diets were characterized for compositional parameters, certain contaminants/toxins (mycotoxins) and microbiological quality. 

 


Tested GM plants: two commercial varieties of maize MON810

  • PR33D48 (Pioneer Hi-Bred)

Near-isogenic lines of tested GM plants

Note: Near Isogenic lines mean those non-genetically modified plants from which the GM lines are derived. Thus, these lines that are genetically identical with the GM plants except at one or a few genetic loci.

Note:
All maize material (GM, near-isogenic and conventional varieties) used for feed production in the frame of GRACE was available on the market. The GRACE consortium did not sign any contract with the variety and event owners.
